Grade Four and FiveOur fourth and fifth grade class provides opportunities to delve deeply into thematic content, focusing on the student's interest area within the theme, and allowing more independent study while providing individualized instruction for reading, writing, and math. They study units at their grade level in social studies and participate in all science units related to the themes during the year. Students have the opportunity to explore their world through a variety of hands-on experiences in each subject area while being nurtured in a safe and positive environment based on specific grade level standards. Enrichment and acceleration are provided for students as they learn at their own pace and establish goals for themselves, tracking their continued progress. Creativity, research skills, and technology are employed as students produce products that demonstrate their learning. In addition, they participate in many field trips which give them the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom setting. At Cedar River Academy students are encouraged and inspired to become life-long, collaborative learners investigating their world through a wealth of resources. They learn the important values of respect, integrity, teamwork, and contribution. It is our goal that students at Cedar River Academy will have the skills and knowledge to become confident, well-educated, and informed citizens who are successful in both their personal and professional lives.
